A Prospective Surveillance Program
for Breast Cancer Related Lymphoedema
The Lymphatic Health Clinic is now providing a Prospective Surveillance Program for Breast Cancer Related Lymphoedema (BCRL).
This program aims to detect BCRL early and implement interventions to prevent progression to chronic lymphoedema.
The prospective surveillance program identifies changes indicative of BCRL. This is important in high-risk patients such as those who have had lymph node surgery, radiotherapy and taxane based chemotherapy, axillary dissection, sentinel node biopsy, BMI greater than 30 at diagnosis
Early detection of BCRL achieves the best therapeutic outcomes in breast cancer rehabilitation. Regular monitoring from the time of a breast cancer diagnosis and ongoing education to reduce risk
Including signs and symptoms of breast lymphoedema, skincare, exercise.
